Overview
Located in the Bay of Bengal, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of India are a cluster of 300 or so islands.
Though the archipelago has numerous islands where tropical rainforests and evergreen forests cover the majority of the areas and around 90% of the region is uninhabited.
It is definitely one the most interesting places to experience bird-watching around the world as it is home to 27 endemic bird species and subspecies. It has around 250 resident and migratory species providing ample opportunities for excellent birding.

Day 1:
Arrival & Birding at Ograbranj Wetlands
We will receive you from the airport and drop you at the resort. After check-in at the resort, we will head out to Ograbranj Wetlands.
Ograbraj is on the outskirts of Port Blair town which used to be paddy fields but got inundated after the 2004 Tsunami.
Birds to expect include Andaman Teal; Chinese Pond Heron; Bailon’s Crake; Slaty-breasted Rail; Pin-tailed Snipe; Pacific Swallow; Watercock; Black-naped Tern; Eastern Yellow Wagtail; Red-throated Pipit; Yellow Bittern; Cinnamon Bittern; Black-browed Reed Warbler; Oriental Reed Warbler; Thick-billed Warbler. After Sunset, we will cover the Nocturnal endemics like Andaman Nightjar; Andaman Scops Owl and Hume’s Hawk Owl along with Oriental Scops Owl (Andaman subspecies).
Day 2 & 3:
Morning Session at Shoal Bay; Evening Session at Sippighat Wetlands
Our Day 2 starts early at 4.45am, we will head towards Shoal Bay by taking a 5.00am ferry to Bambooflat and will reach our birding spot before 6.00am.
We will walk along the forest trail for about 100m spotting the birds and return back to the resort at 11am.
Birds to expect include Andaman Green-Pigeon; Andaman Cuckooshrike; Andaman Wood-Pigeon; Andaman Crake; Andaman Treepie; White-headed Starling; Andaman Bulbul; Andaman Shama; Ruddy Kingfisher; Blue-eared Kingfisher; Mangrove Whistler; White-breasted Wood-swallow; Andaman Drongo; Chinese Egret; Black Baza; Andaman Woodpecker; Andaman Cuckoo-dove; Violet Cuckoo; Blyth’s Paradise Flycatcher; Forest Wagtail. After lunch and a quick rest period, we will head out to Garacharma Wetlands at 3p.m. Birds to expect include Long-toed Stint; Red-necked Stint; Broad-billed Sandpiper; Curlew Sandpiper; Daurian Starling; Chinese Pond Heron; Stork-billed Kingfisher; Red-throated Pipit; Eastern Jungle Crow. After Sunset; we will cover the Nocturnal endemic Andaman Barn Owl.
Day4:
Birding at Mt. Harriet National Park
We will spend the last birding day at Mt. Harriet National Park. We will start from the resort at 4.45am taking a ferry 5.00am ferry to Bambooflat and drive upto Mt. Harriet summit of National Park from there we will walk downhill birding along the way.
For Evening Session we will decide based on the wetland birds or Nocturnal birds missed and choose a location based on the target bird species.
Birds to expect include Andaman Cuckoodove; Andaman Cuckooshrike; Andaman Serpent Eagle; Andaman Coucal; Andaman Treepie; Andaman Drongo; White-headed Starling; White-nest Swiftlet; Brown-backed Needletail; Plume-toed Swiftlet; Andaman Woodpecker etc. We will spend the evening looking for the Andaman Barn Owl in case we missed in previous day.
Day 5:
Transfer to Havelock Island
On day 5, we will take the morning ferry to Havelock Island.
The ferry takes about 2 hrs to reach the island. Upon reaching, we will check into our resort and spend the day birding around the Kalapather area.
Birds to except are Rosy starling; Andaman bulbul; Andaman Shama; Andaman Flowerpecker; Olive backed sunbird; Small Minivet; Scarlet Minivet; Andaman Drongo etc.
Day 6:
Today you are free to explore and relax at the beach.
Overnight will be at Havelock.
Day 7:
Birding at Radhanagar
We will spend the morning birding around the Radhanagar forest patch.
Birds to expect include the Andaman Crake; Forest Wagtail; Andaman Cuckoodove; Andaman Green Pigeon etc.
Day 8:
Port Blair Return & Birding at Chidiyatapu
We will take the morning ferry back to Port Blair, upon arrival you will be transferred to the Jungle resort at Chidiyatapu.
We will spend the evening in Chidiyatapu or drive back to Garacharma wetlands.
Day 9:
Full Day Birding at Chidiyatapu
We will head out at 5.15am towards Chidiyatapu which is 45min drive from Port Blair stopping at Burmanallah along the way. We will walk on the forest road to Chidiyatapu at selected places in the morning and spot the birds.
After Breakfast, we will visit the Biological Park situated at Chidiyatapu and do trail birding inside the park from 9-11am.
Lunch will be arranged at a Jungle resort nearby. Post lunch, we will walk towards Badabalu Beach and spend the evening session birding there and return back to the resort covering the Nocturnal endemic Andaman Hawk Owl as well as any other nocturnal bird we missed in the previous days.
Birds to expect include Andaman Serpent Eagle; Crested Serpent Eagle; Besra; Andaman Treepie; Andaman Drongo; Andaman Shama; Andaman Bulbul; Andaman Green-pigeon; Andaman Wood-pigeon; Andaman Flowerpecker; Andaman Coucal; Olive-backed Sunbird; Freckle-breasted Woodpecker; Long-tailed Parakeet; Vernal Hanging Parrot; Collared Kingfisher; White-headed Starling; Hill Myna; Pacific Reef Egret; White-bellied Sea Eagle; Changeable Hawk Eagle; Beach Thick-knee; White-breasted Wood-swallow; Grey Wagtail; Blue-eared Kingfisher.
Day 10:
Birding at Ograbranj Wetlands
On Day 4, we will visit the Ograbranj Wetlands at 5.15am which is a 45mins drive from Port Blair; we will focus more on warblers today along with other wetland species.
After /spending 2 hours at the wetland we will move further to an isolated beach to search for the Beach Thick knee.
We will return to the resort for lunch and decide upon the place to visit for the evening session based on the birds we have missed on previous days.
Birds to expect include Dusky Warbler; Black-browed Reed Warbler; Thick-billed Warbler; Pallas /Grasshopper Warbler; Andaman Teal; Andaman Coucal; Beach Thick-knee; Andaman Serpent Eagle.
Day 11:
Departure
We will help you check out from the resort and provide vehicles to drop you at the Airport for your return flight back home.
